1. Click on the PICKUP LOCATION field to specify where the patient needs to be picked up.
A drop-down menu will appear with the patient’s home address, as well as the address of their preferred facility if one has been specified in their profile. (See Specifying the Patient's Preferred Facility article for more information).
If the pick up location is the patient’s home address, select the home address. If the pick up location is the patient’s preferred facility, select the preferred facility.
If neither, one of these is the pick up location, type to search for the address you are looking for. Be sure to enter the entire address including city and state, then select the correct address from the list that is generated.
NOTE: For ease of use, the patient’s home address and/or preferred facility will appear by default in the PICK UP LOCATION and DROP OFF LOCATION fields. You can always change this by clicking on the field and manually typing in an address.
2. If there is important information that needs to be conveyed to the driver picking the patient up at this location, enter this information into the PICKUP NOTES field. For example, “Darius will be waiting for you on the corner of 5th and main.”
Whatever information you record in this field will be sent as a text message to the patient’s driver. For more information on messages to the driver, see Messages to Driver.
3. Click on the DROP OFF LOCATION field and follow the same process to specify where the patient needs to be dropped off.
If there is important information that needs to be conveyed to the driver dropping the patient off at this location, enter this information into the DROP OFF NOTES field. For example, “Please drop Darius off at the main entrance.”
4. Specify whether the patient should be picked up at a scheduled time or on demand.
Select scheduled time to specify the time at which the driver should arrive at the pick up location, the pick up time.
If you specified an appointment time in Step 1, the pick up time will be automatically calculated to ensure the patient arrives at their appointment on time. Ride Health uses live and historic traffic data to ensure patients arrive at their appointments with at least 15 minutes to spare. You can change this as necessary by entering a new time.
Select on demand to create the ride without specifying a pick up time, the patient can activate the ride at any time on the day of the ride.
For more information on the difference between on demand and scheduled rides, see Scheduled vs. On Demand Rides.
5. Each ride in this section is a one-way trip from the pick up location to the drop off location. If the patient requires a return ride home or a ride to another location, select Add another ride to generate Ride #2.
Follow the same process to complete the fields for Ride #2.
If the patient requires multiple trips, select Add another ride to generate Ride #3 and beyond.
If a ride was accidentally generated, you can remove it by clicking delete in the top right corner of the ride you would like to delete.
6. Click Continue.
